Back ICAR spots improved rice varieties Our Bureau
The identified varieties include two new improved hybrid rice varieties Sahyadri-4 and JKRH-2000, an ICAR release said. The Cuttack-based Central Rice Research Institute has identified improved basmati CRM 2007-1 variety with an average yield of 3,793 kg per hectare and 7.5 mm kernel length, the release said. The UPRI 99-1 variety, developed by Pantnagar-based G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, has been recommended for irrigated eco-systems for medium duration in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh and has a mean yield of 6,141 kg per hectare. The Hazaribaug-based Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station has identified RR 347-2 variety for Gujarat and Orissa. It also identified CR-314-10 variety for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Assam. The variety has an average mean yield of 5,226 kg per hectare. The Almora-based Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan has identified VL Dhan 86 for Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh.
