Back TVS Motor sells 80,862 units in April Our Bureau
Chennai , May 2 TVS Motor Company sold 80,862 motorcycles in April 2006 compared to 52,825 units in the same month last year, according to a press release from the company. But the sales last month were 3.6 per cent lower than in the previous month. In March, the company had sold 83,896 motorcycles. The release said that the recently-launched TVS Apache has "met with an encouraging response in all the markets it has been launched'', but does not give any numbers. "The company is in the process of ramping up production and spread its availability," it said. Sales of all two-wheelers were 1,24,917 units in April compared to 92,400 units in the corresponding period last year. However, this was lower than 1,28,857 units sold in March. The release said that the company recently launched a new advertising campaign for StaR City brand featuring its "latest brand ambassador'' Mahindra Singh Dhoni. Another new advertising campaign featuring Bollywood star Priety Zinta for a new collection of Scooty Pep "will soon go on air", it said.
