Four persons killed in road accidents

BANGALORE: Four persons were killed in road accidents reported from Bangalore Rural district and the city since Wednesday night.

The police said two persons were killed and 20 were injured when the tractor-trailer by which they were travelling overturned and fell into a lake in Akkur police station limits in Channapatna taluk of Bangalore Rural district on Wednesday night.

The tractor-trailer, carrying 25 people to a marriage, fell into a lake near Manjegowdana Doddi, the police said.

The names of the dead were given as Sakamma (45) and Shivalingaiah (30).

The injured were admitted in Government Hospital in Channaptna. The Akkur police have registered a case.

Motorist killed

Krishna (25) was killed after a mini-lorry rammed his moped near Chokkasandra in Koramangala police station limits around 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Following the accident, residents of the area staged a protest demanding action against the lorry driver, the police said.

The Madivala traffic police have registered a case.

Killed in accident

A worker was killed and another injured in an accident in RMC Yard police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police said two workers were travelling by a granite-laden lorry bound for Hassan. Around 7.30 p.m., when the driver applied brakes near SRS Colony on Tumkur Road to avoid a stray dog, the labourers got struck between the granite blocks.

While Keshava Murthy (21) was killed, Venkatapathi (27) was seriously injured. Murthy was a resident of Anekal taluk, the police said.

The RMC Yard police have registered a case.
