M. Mallappa passes away

BANGALORE: The former Minister Margada Mallappa, who represented Birur Assembly constituency in Chikmagalur district three times in succession, died on Friday. He was 85.

He was a member of the D. Devaraj Urs' Cabinet as Health Minister and Mines and Geology Minister from 1977 to 1980.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has mourned his death. In a message, he said, "Mr. Mallappa, as Health Minister, brought about many reforms. He was a popular leader and led an exemplary life."
