CAB asked to disclose details

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to disclose in detail all transactions it had with the 1996 World Cup organising committee PILCOM's bank account in IOB's Bhowanipore branch in Kolkata.

The BCCI sent a letter to CAB after the recent Working Committee meeting in Mumbai. "We have asked the CAB to reveal all financial transactions from 1996," said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.

It's understood that some members pressed for disciplinary action against CAB, citing an earlier decision against Punjab Cricket Association president I.S. Bindra, who was suspended from attending BCCI meetings for two years. However, BCCI president Sharad Pawar intervened and told the committee that such action should not be taken against the association.

According to sources, a representative of former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya was in Chennai on Friday to inspect vouchers/receipts relating to the payments made to different parties from the PILCOM bank account in Kolkata. — Special Correspondent
