Technology's way of greeting the WC

LONDON: Spin the wheel, and get just about all the World Cup information you need.

Details on every player at the World Cup, schedules of games and statistics from past tournaments will be at the fingertips of iPod users this summer — whether they make the trip to Germany or not.

Coolgorilla is offering the World Cup guide free on its website, www.coolgorilla.com. It can be loaded onto an Apple digital music player and accessed whenever wanted.

``This game will transform your iPod into an interactive football encyclopedia,'' Coolgorilla boasts. ``It unleashes the power of your iPod by using a clever system of menus so that all the information you want is only a few clicks away.''

Coolgorilla games and downloads are compatible with third generation iPods or later, according to the website. Each iPod can handle one coolgorilla game at a time.

Frank Lampard has been one of the main reasons Chelsea won its second consecutive English Premier League title this year, playing in at least 50 games in each of the last three seasons.

But now that the team from London has clinched the title, the midfielder is ready to head to Germany and play at the World Cup for England.

``I can't wait for the summer,'' Lampard said. ``I'll have a little break at the end of the season and then I'm looking forward to getting stuck right into the World Cup.''

England had been expected to have a chance to win the World Cup for the second time in its history, but an injury to striker Wayne Rooney has hurt the team. The Manchester United forward broke his right foot in late April and is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks. The World Cup begins June 9. — AP
