Five die in Bijapur road accident

Bijapur: Five persons, including two women, were killed and 25 seriously injured when a private luxury bus collided with a truck near Golsangi crossing on National Highway 13 on Sunday.

According to the police, the private bus was on its way to Bijapur from Bangalore when the accident occurred around 7 a.m.

While the victims were yet to be identified, the injured have been rushed to district hospital in Bijapur, and condition of three of them was stated to be critical, the sources said.

Top police officials, including Superintendent of Police, rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operations. Traffic at the national highway was disrupted for a few hours due to the accident, the sources added. — UNI
