BANGALORE: Two persons committed suicide by consuming poison allegedly due to "harassment" by their wives on Saturday. According to the police, Ashwath (35), resident of Harsha Layout in the Kengeri Police Station limits, consumed poison and died. The police said he and his wife had a quarrel and when Ashwath threatened that he would end his life, his wife said he could do as he pleased. Murugan (38), a resident of Allalasandra and a manual labour, died after consuming poison mixed with liquor in the Yelahanka Police Station limits. The police said he was dejected over the frequent quarrels that his wife had with him.
Sets himself on fire
In another case, a 16-year-old boy set himself on fire in Sriramapuram Police Station limits on Sunday. The police, who gave the name of the dead as Manjunath alias Manju, said he was in love with a girl and he proposed to her on May 4. However, the girl reportedly turned down his proposal saying she was engaged to another person. A dejected Manju doused himself with kerosene and set himself on fire on Saturday. He died at the Victoria Hospital.
