Unique music festival

BANGALORE: For classical music buffs, there was this Sangeetha Siksha, a three-day musical workshop and Carnatic music festival presented by Shruti, the country's only 24-hour Carnatic music radio station on WorldSpace Statellite Radio, at Smriti Nandan on Palace Road here.

Partnering Worldspace in the initiative was Carnatica Global Gurukulam, the tuition arm of leading Carnatic music organisation, Carnatica. The crowd of enthusiastic youngsters was eager to learn the fine art of Carnatic classical.

Conducted by K.N. Shashikiran, the workshop covered the technical aspects of the music.

The three-day music festival showcased a wide range in terms of breadth of experience, ranging from R.K. Srikantan, and the Carnatica Brothers, an established Carnatic vocal duo, to young performer Naveen Namboodiri.
