Chitra is staging A.S. Murthy's `Yaaru yaaru ni yaaru?'

HERE I AM: A scene from `Yaaru yaaru ni yaaru?'

BANGALORE: Are you a theatre buff looking for something new? Chitra, which stages a new play every second Sunday, may be the place to visit on May 14 when theatre person A.S. Murthy's play, "Yaaru yaaru ni yaaru?" (Pray, who are you?) will be staged. There will be two shows at 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.

Written and directed by Mr. Murthy, the play will see the playwright act too.

The organisers promise an unusual series of scenes that will feature theatre, cinema and television on stage.

A creative introduction to the play goes thus: "It is not a repeat show with the clichéd garden of love featuring Romeo and Juliet; nor is it a remake of Sevanthi Sevanthi (a romantic Kannada film); nor do you have court scenes as in the Kannada serial, Muktha...

"Yet, as you go on watching `Yaaru yaaru ni yaaru', the references (characters) will make you laugh ceaselessly till uprooting the hatred and vengeance and finally embracing you with a hand of friendship."

Chitra may be contacted at Kalamandira, 5th Cross, A.N. Subbarao Road, Hamunthanagar. Chitra has been performing here every second Sunday since January 2003. Call Ph: 9845825217 to to book your seat in advance.
