Letters to the Editor
I was delighted to read T.K. Viswanathan's piece "Ensuring justice in a flat world" (May 9 Op-Ed page). His clarion call for the next step forward in the path of human progress from jurisprudence (mere speculation about the law) to jurimetrics (scientific investigation of legal problems) needs the widest publicity among lawyers and judges. The judiciary has taken a front seat in our constitutional path of progress, and Mr. Viswanathan's reminder that judges have to be "enlightened and well informed in diverse fields" comes not a day too late.
