Gang raids house in Sultanpalya

Jewellery estimated at Rs. 1 lakh looted

BANGALORE: Three armed men broke into a house in R.T. Nagar police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday and made away with gold jewellery and other valuables, all estimated at Rs. 1 lakh after assaulting a woman and her two children.

The police said the incident took place around 3 a.m. at Siranthi's house in Hanumanthappa Layout in Sultanpalya. The assailants entered the house, robbed Siranthi of her gold chain and looted other valuables from the house.

Killed

K.G. Kumar (30) was killed after a lorry hit his scooter in Basavanagudi police station limits around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. A native of Salem, Kumar worked in a private company here. The Basavanagudi traffic police have registered a case and seized the lorry.

LIC officer ends life

A development officer of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the LIC officers' quarters in Ulsoor police station limits in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police gave his name as Y.S. Shivanna, alias Maharshi (59).
