This Day That Age
Sir Winston Churchill said in Aachen (West Germany) on May 10 that if Soviet Russia was sincere in repudiating the policies of Josef Stalin she should be allowed to take her part in a truly unified Europe. Sir Winston was paying his first visit to Germany since 1945, when he witnessed her defeat. He was awarded Aachen's Charlemagne Prize given every year since 1949 to an outstanding worker for European unity.
