India's film "Ballad of the Pathway" (Pather Panchali in Bengali) won the prize for the most human document at the Cannes Film Festival, it was announced in Cannes on May 10. Mr. Hiten Chaudhury, distributor of "Ballad of the Pathway," said, "The Indian film people here are all very happy and we are particularly proud of Mr. Satyajit Ray who directed it."
