National Technology Day celebrated

Naval science laboratory kept open

    VISAKHAPANTAM: Students of various schools and colleges, teachers, family members of defence employees and the general public visited the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) here on Thursday as the laboratory was kept open to the public as part of the National Technology Day celebrations.

    A woman visitor was heard saying, "I never knew that such state-of-the-art equipment is available here though we have been staying here for the last several years.'' Another man said: "I never knew what is beyond the boundary wall of NSTL.''

    The Cavitation Tunnel, the Anechoic Room, totally built with rubber material, and the reverberation test facility attracted the attention of the visitors. Teachers of various Central Schools, who are on a visit to Kendriya Vidyalaya-I (104 Area) to attend a training programme, were impressed by the test facilities at NSTL.

    Three venues

    The equipment was displayed at three different venues in the vast NSTL complex.

    Earlier in the day NSTL Director V. Bhujanga Rao inaugurated the Technology Day celebrations. Scientist `E', R. Srihari, and the Additional Director, A.K. Tiwari were present.

    A blood donation camp, organised on the occasion, was inaugurated by Lalitha Bhujanga Rao. In all, 41 employees donated blood.
