Resignations accepted

NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha on Thursday accepted the resignations of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and the Rajya Sabha those of Kapila Vatsyayan (nominated), Ghulam Nabi Azad (Congress) and Anil Ambani (independent).

Ms. Gandhi was re-elected from Rae Bareli on Thursday and Mr. Chauhan was a member of the State Assembly.

Ms. Vatsyayan and Mr. Ambani quit on the office-of-profit issue and Mr. Azad resigned after becoming the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister.
