JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje met the Deputy Prime Minister of Israel, Tzipi Livni, in Tel Aviv on Thursday as a member of a delegation led by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, which is currently on a visit to Israel. Ms. Raje discussed with Ms. Livni the scope of technical cooperation in farming. Ms. Raje said Israel could provide valuable inputs to Rajasthan in the techniques relating to farming in the arid and semi-arid areas. The two parties, she said, would benefit from joint action in the areas of desert farming, water management, conservation of biodiversity and development of agricultural institutions. An official release issued here stated that Ms. Livni evinced a keen interest in the living conditions in the desert, scarcity of water, status of agriculture and animal husbandry development in Rajasthan. Ms. Raje apprised her of the efforts made for water conservation, micro-irrigation and promotion of medicinal plants by her Government.
