Officialdom a bit wary

While the vast section of Government employees, who felt troubled by the outgoing regime during the strike period a couple of years ago, derive a vicarious pleasure from the election verdict, officials at the decision-making level are a little apprehensive of what the future beholds. It is not the fear of transfers alone. Over the past five years, officials at the local level were not approached by local political heavyweights of the ruling party for any favours, as the latter were gripped by the fear of incurring the wrath of the party high command in a "centralised power" scenario.

But now, the officials find themselves in a situation of bracing up to possible change in realities.

They might have to accommodate the views of regional party satraps before taking vital decisions, to be in the good books of the incoming regime. Nevertheless, they are not quite amused by this kind of "power decentralisation."
