Probe into bribery charge

HYDERABAD : Chief Secretary T.K. Dewan has ordered an enquiry into bribery episode in which his private secretary D. Panduranga Prasad is allegedly involved.

Mr. Dewan told The Hindu here on Thursday that he did not know whether the transaction, cited by a woman, Lakshmi, was true and if so, whether in the Secretariat or outside. He did not disagree with the suggestion that any such transaction would be on the promise of doing some favour from Government side. Mr. Prasad has been asked to go on leave.
