Advani welcomes relief package

NEW DELHI: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani has, in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, dated May 12, welcomed the preparation of a relief package for families of the farmers who had committed suicide, mainly due to indebtedness.

Appreciating Dr. Singh's prompt reply to his earlier letter, Mr. Advani said that while a rehabilitation package would be welcome, a joint parliamentary committee should be set up to look at a long-term policy that would alleviate the sufferings of farmers.
