More RDX, AK 47 rifles seized

Special Correspondent

These have been found in computer server cabinets

MUMBAI: Continuous searches by the Maharashtra police have led to the seizure of two computer server cabinets — one containing RDX and the other AK-47 rifles — and a car used by Lashkar-e-Taiba suspects, besides arrests.

Last Tuesday, the Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested three LeT suspects and seized 10 AK-47 rifles, 2,000 rounds and 30 kg of RDX after a long, daring chase of a Tata Sumo car near Aurangabad. Some other LeT suspects, who were following the car in another vehicle, an Indica car, escaped.

Later the police found the Indica car, abandoned at Malegaon in Nashik district. The number plates of both cars were changed at Malegaon and the police picked up four persons for allegedly helping the LeT cadre.

The police discovered the computer server cabinets, containing the explosive and arms, in the Ankari Fort area near Manmad. The occupants of the Indica car are still at large.

Meanwhile, Abdul Azim Abdul Jameel, driver of the Tata Sumo, who had escaped, surrendered to the police in Aurangabad.

Police sources said the ATS would invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act against the terrorists.
