Private colleges ready for talks

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Private professional college managements are now ready for talks with the Government to discuss the Common Entrance Test imbroglio. The talks will be held in a day or two, according to Higher Education Minister D.H. Shankaramurthy.

On the sidelines of a function organised to solve the problems of pre-university college teachers here, Mr. Shankaramurthy said he had met with a few private college managements and talked about possible ways to solve the admissions problem.

"There has been a positive response from their side, as they are now ready for talks. The Government and the private managements will meet again in a day or two and discuss the issue at length," he said.

The major problem for the State Government has been the acute shortage of seats under the Common Entrance Test Cell. It had invited the private colleges to surrender some of their seats to the Cell but this had met with a lukewarm response.
