Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Ponneri on May 19 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance. Supply will be resumed before 5 p.m. if the work is completed.

Platinum jubilee

The Department of Indian Music, University of Madras and The Music Academy, will inaugurate the yearlong `Platinum Jubilee Celebrations' of the department on Friday (and not Saturday, as reported earlier). N. Murali, president of The Music Academy, and Leela Samson, director of Kalakshetra Foundation will participate. There will be a symposium on `percussive arts'. The event will be held at Music Academy from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

TNPCEE examinations

SA Engineering College has arranged free transport facilities at 7 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. from Thiruvotrivur, Perambur and Velachery on May 18-19 for students appearing for the TNPCEE examinations at their centre. Shuttle trips once in 15 minutes will also be operated from Poonamallee and Avadi on the above dates.

Electronics workshop

Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre is organising a workshop on `Basic Electronics' for school students of classes VII-IX of the forthcoming academic year. It will concentrate on providing training in basic electronics. For further details call 24410025/ 24416751.

Free counselling

Dr.Michael T. Nietzel of Missouri State University will be making a presentation at the free counselling programme at the International School for Management Studies (MSSW campus, Casa Major Rd). On June 3, from 5-6.30 p.m.

MBA programme

Elected

M. Narayanaswamy, president, R.S. Cunniah and Vimala Krishnamurthy, Vice-presidents, W.S. Lakshmana Rao, secretary and Maria Smitha, treasurer have been elected to their respective posts for 2006 by the Tamil Nadu Family Courts Counsellors Association.

Mega Star Evening

Young cine stars and music directors and playback singers will share centre stage in a musical extravaganza to be held on May 20, at the Holy Angels School in city. New Waves Creation and Variety Cinema directory have also joined hands in organising the show. The programme is in aid of the education and welfare of the poor children in care of the Holy Cross Church, T. Nagar. Fr. Edward Parish, priest of Holy Cross Church, met the press and gave the details of the show.
