"Last week, we got an internal approval from `Office of Innovation' in Adobe to file for patents for four new ideas. So the number of patent applications that we are filing from India continues to grow. So far, we have filed for 32 patents based on work done from India in areas such as mobile devices, PDF content creation, image understanding and image processing, data compressing and rich internet application, and many more are in the pipeline," Mr Naresh Gupta, Senior Vice President, Print and Classic Publishing Business Unit and Managing Director, India Research and Development of Adobe Systems, said. He said that the patents filed per engineer in Adobe's Noida campus (which currently houses 550 professionals) was at par with the Adobe's global campuses. "We work with our legal partners while filing for patents and the filing happens in the US; depending on the value of patent we may also decide to file it in other geographies," he said.
