Protest against `attack' on minorities

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Muslims, mainly from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, took out a procession here on Friday in protest against the alleged attacks on the minorities in the coastal districts.

With the slogan, "Save Karnataka from communal and fascist forces," the protestors, under the banner of Karnataka Forum for Dignity, took out a procession from Millers Road to Shivajinagar stadium.

`Failure'

Addressing the protestors at the Shivajinagar stadium, the leaders of the forum said that the elected representatives were silent on the attacks that were taking place on the minorities in the coastal districts. As the elected representatives and the police had allegedly failed to protect the minorities in the coastal districts, they had been forced to take out the rally in Bangalore, they said.

Though the police had made arrangements for smooth vehicle movement, traffic was affected at some places because of the procession.
