BANGALORE: An elderly woman allegedly killed her son unable to tolerate his addiction to alcohol, in Madiwala Police Station limits in the early hours of Sunday. The police gave the name of the woman as Siddamma (75) and that of the victim as Venkatesh (30). The incident occurred at the first floor residence of Siddamma on Anjaneya Temple Street in Old Madiwala. The police said Siddamma used a concrete hollow block to crush her son's head. According to the police, Siddamma, who also has two daughters, lived with her son in a rented house. She worked as a maid to eke out a living, while Venkatesh, who did not have any job, was in the habit of drinking alcohol. The police said Venkatesh came home drunk around 1.30 a.m. but Siddamma was asleep. Venkatesh then smashed the windowpanes and damaged the door to get in. As Venkatesh was lying on the floor, the agitated mother lifted the hollow block and crushed her son's head, the police said.
Later, she went to the police station and surrendered. Madiwala Police have arrested Siddamma. Investigation is on.
