SBT social circle comes to people's help

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The social circle of the State Bank of Travancore (SBT) is taking the lead in providing relief to the water-starved people of Ozhur panchayat in Malappuram district this summer, the bank said in a press release on Tuesday.

For the last one month, the bank's branch at Pulparamba in the panchayat had been providing drinking water in tankers to the residents.

The bank started the initiative in mid-April when public taps and most of the wells in the panchayat went dry. The bank would continue the relief operation till the advent of the monsoon, the press release said, quoting branch manager O. K. Wahab.
