St. Xavier's triumphs

NAGERCOIL: St. Xavier's VC (Palayamkottai) beat Armed Police (Chennai) 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-8 for its second win in the last match of the four-team league in the Sacred Heart Trophy State-level volleyball tournament at Kavalkinar, near here, on Tuesday.

Three teams, St. Xavier's, Armed Police and Friends VC (Coimbatore) finished on par with two wins and one loss each. As such, on points average, St. Xavier's (1.48) claimed the title, Armed Police (1.075) finished runner-up and Friends (0.983) finished third.

The results: St. Xavier's bt Armed Police 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-8; bt Stadium Friends 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 25-4.
