ANANTAPUR: President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) N. Chandrababu Naidu is on a two-day visit to the district - on June 2 and 3 - to review the party functioning and its preparedness for the forthcoming local bodies' elections. At the party district executive committee meeting held here on Thursday, district president V. Hanumantharaya Chowdary said that the TDP chief would chair the district general body meeting and review the constituency-wise party position. He would spend about two hours for each constituency. On June 2, Mr. Naidu would conduct the general body and review the party position in seven constituencies. On June 3, he would review the remaining seven constituencies and also conduct district coordination committee meeting. Mr. Chowdary said that they were planning to mobilise about 500 party workers from each constituency for the general body and review meetings. As the local bodies' elections were fast approaching, the general body and review meets should reflect the election atmosphere, he told the party leaders. He called upon party leaders and workers to take up the party president's visit and the review meetings seriously as the excesses of the ruling party were high in the district.
Babu not to campaign?
As the party president was not likely to campaign for the local bodies' elections, his message at the general boy and review meets would be important for the party men, he said. Though the executive meeting of the party held on Thursday was labelled as important, only one of the six legislators attended the meeting. About 750 delegates from the district would participate in the party's Mahanadu to be held at Rajahmundry from May 27 to 29, the district president of the party stated.
