KOCHI: A joint meeting of various backward class organisations held here on Saturday declared solidarity with the decision of the Central Government to implement reservation in the higher education sector. The meeting condemned the attempts of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to create anarchy by dragging the students on to the streets in protest against the courageous stand taken by the Centre. However, the meeting praised the stand of the IMA Kerala unit. Representatives of as many as 18 backward class organisations took part in the meeting. It was inaugurated by Pookunju, State general secretary of the Jam-Aath Council. Kerala Latin Catholic Association president Phelix J. Puloodan presided. A solidarity convention for reservation will be held on June 18 at the Ernakulam Town Hall.
