Back Good export enquiries at Kochi tea sale

Medium CTC dust tea grades witnessed good enquiries from exporters, at the Kochi tea auction. All round general demand supported the price of good liquoring CTC varieties, which generally remained steady. Other CTC varieties remained irregular and barely steady. There was 10,77,000 kg of dust tea on offer at the auction.

Best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 54 and Rs 64, medium CTC ranged Rs 45-53, while below medium were quoted Rs 41-46. High grown BOPD fetched Rs 80-106, medium BOPD Rs 41-43, while secondaries were not quoted.

Leaf tea gains

Good general demand at the leaf tea sale helped to prop up the price of orthodox brokens, fannings and whole leaf grades. High grown orthodox varieties remained steady while primaries remained firm. CTC varieties ranged higher by Rs 3-4.

While exporters to CIS countries operated on high grown varieties, orthodox varieties witnessed good enquiry from exporters to Iraq and Tunisia.

In the leaf section, best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 65-70, medium orthodox ranged between Rs 47-57 and plain orthodox Rs 44-45. Best CTC leaf varieties commanded Rs 51-56 and medium CTC Rs 48-52.

Kodanad BOPD fetched the top price of Rs 108 in the dust variety, followed by Pasuparai FD Rs 91, Pasuparai SFD Rs 85 and Parkside BOPD Rs 80. In the leaf segment, Kodanad BOPF fetched Rs 91, Havukal BOPF Rs 91, Chamraj FOP Rs 78 and Havukal FP Rs 76.
