Two naxalites killed on Orissa border

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two members of the Kalimela Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS) of the banned CPI (Maoist) were killed in an exchange of fire with a combined team of the Andhra Pradesh and Orissa police at Tekuguda in Orissa near the State border on Tuesday afternoon.

The exchange of fire took place between 12.30 and 2 p.m. near Tekuguda under the Kalimela police station limits, some 50 km from Sileru and 300 km from here, according to information received by the district police.

The incident occurred after the joint teams of the Andhra Pradesh and Orissa police continued their intensive combing operations after disrupting a meeting organised by the Maoists at Dattuguda on Monday. The naxalites hold their meetings, and training programmes in these thick forests.
