Back Revamp of Bengal PSUs

The West Bengal Government on Wednesday set in motion the second phase of restructuring of the public sector undertakings. A meeting was held at Writers' Buildings on Wednesday to discuss the restructuring of 30 State PSUs with assistance from the UK's Department for International Development (DFID). Speaking to newspersons, Mr Nirupam Sen, West Bengal's Minister for Industries, said five of these PSUs came under the purview of the Transport Department, while two are under the Power Department. Consultants would soon be appointed to take up viability studies. By June this year, workers' unions and managements of the PSUs in question will hold discussions with the Departmental Secretaries concerned.
