Back Tariff plan for Mumbai Metro project

The tariff plan for the 11 km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar of the Mumbai Metro project was approved by the Maharashtra Government on Wednesday. The decision was taken after the weekly Cabinet meeting, according to an official press release. For a distance of 3 km the charge would be Rs 6. For a distance between 3 and 8 km the charge would Rs 8 and for distance beyond 8 km the charge would be Rs 10. After the first three years of operation the fare would be increased by 11 per cent. The 11 km route would be covered in 21 minutes and there would 12 stations on the route, the release said. The Cabinet also approved a proposal by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for seeking Rs 650 crore from the Union Government towards viability gap funding for phase one of the Mumbai Metro project, the release said.
