Registration begins for The Hindu EducationPlus guidance sessions

The sessions for students aspiring for professional courses will be held in four centres


  • The Bangalore session will be held on June 7 at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall
  • In Gulbarga, it will be held on June 10 at the Doddappa Appa Sabha Mantapa, Sharana Basaveshwar Residential School
  • The Dharwad session will be held on June 11 at Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur Kala Bhavan
  • The session in Mangalore will be held on June 17 at the Town Hall

    Bangalore: The Hindu EducationPlus will conduct pre-counselling guidance sessions for students who are aspiring to get into professional courses (engineering, medical and allied), either through the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell or the test conducted by the COMED-K (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka).

    The events will be held in Bangalore, Mangalore, Dharwad and Gulbarga.

    Registration for the events has commenced at the centres concerned.

    The objectives of the session are to help the students understand the admission processes; the potential of various courses; what the industry looks for; how to prepare for challenges ahead; etc.

    The Bangalore event will be held on June 7 at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall. The programme will include talks by experts from the fields of education and industry and those connected with the CET Cell and the COMED-K.

    The programme will commence at 10 a.m.

    The registration fee in Bangalore is Rs. 100.

    The panel of speakers in Bangalore include K. Sivaraman Kumar, executive secretary, COMED-K, and principal and dean, M.S. Ramaiah Medical College; C. Murali, Chairman, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers; K. Dinesh, founder-director, Infosys Technologies Limited; K. Raghothama Rao, vice-president, Human Networking Academy; and Jamal, Administrative Officer, CET Cell.

    Gulbarga

    The counselling event in Gulbarga will be held on June 10 at the Doddappa Appa Sabha Mantapa Sharana Basaveshwar Residential School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    The panellists in Gulbarga are P.S. Shankar, member of the National Board of Examination (post-graduate medical education and training), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; V.D. Mytri, member of the Academic Senate and Executive Council of the Visvesvaraya Technical University, Belgaum; G.K. Purohit, head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering; B. Kagesan, Special Officer of the Visvesvaraya Technical University, Gulbarga Region.

    Dharwad

    The event in Dharwad will be held on June 11 at Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur Kala Bhavan, Jubilee Circle.

    The Hindu EducationPlus will provide a handbook to students on a few courses in engineering written by academics.
