Advocates seek shifting of KAT

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Advocates' Association of Bangalore has submitted a memorandum to Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph, requesting him to take steps to shift the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) from the Indiranagar BDA Complex to Multi-storeyed Building adjacent to the Vidhana Soudha. The memorandum also said there were 54 vacancies in the District and Sessions Court. Advocates and litigants were facing hardship because of shortage of judges, it said.

Association president D.L. Jagadeesh and secretary Gopalaswamy, who met the Chief Justice, requested him to improve facilities in the Sessions Court Complex on Old Post Office Road.

Their other demands include space for an office for the Advocates' Association and a change of management of the canteen on High Court premises.

Mr. Jagadeesh said the Chief Justice had assured the association that he would look into the demands.
