Back Purani to expand yarn production capacity G. Gurumurthy
Coimbatore , June 3 Purani Textiles Private Ltd, a first generation textile enterprise from Coimbatore, is expanding its polyester/viscose yarn production capacity. The company is also foraying into cotton yarn manufacture and value-added yarn production by installing compact spinning system as part of expansion. The company is currently producing 2,500 kg of 100 per cent polyester/viscose and blended yarn from its existing spindle unit at Sithanaickenpalayam near Coimbatore. It has now proposed to add another 8,000 new spindles to be installed in two phases at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Disclosing this to Business Line, Mr N. Nithyanandan, Director of Purani Textiles, said the entire capital investment would be met by term loans from banks under the technology upgradation fund scheme and internal accruals.
Expansion project
Phase I expansion of adding 3,000 new spindles will be in place in the next eight months or so and another 5,000 spindles will be installed in Phase II after a year. Itwill increase the company's daily yarn output from 2,500 kg to 3,750 kg and subsequently to 5,000 kg on completion. The company, which lays emphasis on benchmarked quality in yarn production, has chosen for a mix of imported and indigenous new machinery for its capacity expansion project. Purani Textiles produces polyester/viscose yarn and blended yarn in specific count range which includes 30s, 34s and 40s in 100 per cent viscose and 45s polyester-viscose yarn. It sells its yarn in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Ischalkarangi and Tirupur markets.
Rising demand
The company has decided on capacity expansion, according to Mr Nithyanandan, in view of the rising demand for 100 per cent polyester and viscose yarn, especially for the finer count range produced using lower denier fibres. The demand surge is on account of higher volume consumption from its existing yarn buyers and also entry of new set of consumers.
