Back Jayaprakash may launch political party Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 5 Politics in Andhra Pradesh is all set to witness an interesting turn later this year, with Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, National Coordinator of Lok Satta, likely to set up a political party to fight corruption and bring order to governance. Asked whether a report in Telugu daily on his likely foray into politics, Dr Jayaprakash neither denied nor confirmed. Talking to newspersons after delivering the valedictory address at a FAPCCI meeting here, he said there should be a consensus among people on transforming the present system that gave them a raw deal. Dr Jayaprakash Narayan quit IAS and founded Lok Satta to establish corruption-free citizen-centric and genuinely democratic governance. The organisation, which soon attracted intellectuals and youth across the State, also advocated decentralisation of power. He said politicians had distanced themselves from the people. "We have to bring these segments together," he added. "Time has come to wake up and overhaul the democratic system. But we have to tread carefully," he said.
