Man waylaid, robbed near Abbigere

BANGALORE: An armed gang attacked a man and robbed him of Rs. 20,000 in cash, a mobile phone and a gold ring in Gangammanagudi police station limits on Tuesday midnight.

The police said that around midnight Shiva Kumar, who runs an automobile battery-recharging unit in Yeshwanthapur, was riding his motorcycle towards his house at Abbigere.

On reaching Pipeline, off Forest Department guesthouse, three men, who were riding a motorcycle, hit Shiva Kumar's vehicle. As he fell, the three threatened him with a sword and robbed him. On a complaint by Shiva Kumar, the Gangammanagudi police have registered a case.

House burgled

Burglars struck at Lakshmi Subramanian's house in Sahakaranagar and took away gold jewellery, a computer and silk saris, all estimated at Rs. 1.25 lakh and cash.

The police said the theft took place between May 22 and June 6 when Lakshmi and her family members had gone to Chennai. The thieves had entered the house by breaking open the rear door. On a complaint by Lakshmi, the Yelahanka police have registered a case.

Two injured

Two youths were injured after a car hit their moped on National Highway-4, off Anchemane Cross, in Dobbspet police station limits in Bangalore Rural district around 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The police said Thimmaraju (21) and Satyendra Singh (23), both residents of Gayathri Layout in the city, were injured.
