Back Dumping probe on steel wheels from China K.R. Srivats
New Delhi , June 12 An anti-dumping probe has been initiated on imports of steel wheels from China. The investigation has been initiated by the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry on the basis of the application jointly filed by Chennai-based Wheels India Ltdand the Pune-based Kalyani Lemmerz Ltd, sole producers of steel wheels in India. The product under consideration is flat-base steel wheel used in tubed tyre application in commercial vehicles (buses, lorries including trucks, trailers and tempos). The investigation would be carried out for the 12-month period starting from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005. Both the companies had in their joint application claimed that China be treated as a non-market economy. They had chosen Germany as an appropriate market economy country for the purpose of establishing `normal value' in respect of China.
