Bangalore: The new school building of Sri Jnanakshi Vidyaniketan, Rajarajeshwarinagar, was inaugurated recently. It also happened to be the founding-cum-annual day of the school. Sri Jayendra Puri Mahaswamiji of Sri Kailash Ashrama Mahasamsthana, who is the president of the institution opened the building named "Our Temple of Learning," The swamiji said the institution intended to mould children into good human beings. It did not aim at producing engineers or doctors. "We do not aim for ranks or give importance to meritocracy. For us, it is important how many of our students learn to establish peace in society," he said. The swamiji, who had a dig at the present system of education, said: "Our children are in the dark. They do not know what to do. It is time to correct the basics of our education system. We need to think whether the present system is good enough to provide quality education at the base level. Concern for others should be the purpose of education." The former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda said that he was against commercialisation of education. He said providing quality education at the primary level was the need of the hour. School administrator Wg. Cdr. K. R.
