Back Coconut production to be doubled

The Agriculture Minister, Mr Mullakara Ratnakaran, has said that coconut production in the State will be doubled in a year's time. The Minister said this while addressing a meeting of high-level officials of the department convened at the Durbar Hall of the Secretariat here on Thursday. Each district will be assigned a production target, the run-up to realisation of which will be closely monitored, Mr Ratnakaran said. Efforts will be made to see that farmers ready themselves to face the challenges thrown up by the emerging new world order. A comprehensive water management programme will be chartered out. Resources of non-residents will be marshalled to see that the State gets a look-in at major international marketing fairs.
