Congress alleges smear campaign

BANGALORE: V.S. Ugrappa, MLC and Congress spokesperson, on Thursday charged that Janata Dal (S) and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were conducting a vilification campaign against A. Deve Gowda, Congress candidate in the election to the Legislative Council from the Bangalore Graduates' constituency. Mr. Ugrappa told presspersons here that candidates of the two parties were misleading voters by saying that Mr. Deve Gowda had cheated many people.
