Traffic diversions at Kathipara junction

    CHENNAI: The City Traffic Police have announced diversions at the Kathipara junction on NH 45 (GST Road) from Saturday in an effort to address congestion at this key gateway to the city.

    The diversions will be done from 8 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on an experimental basis.

    The stretch of Mount-Poonamallee Road from the Jawaharlal Nehru Statue junction to District Police Office Road has been declared one-way with entry from Jawaharlal Nehru Road junction for all vehicles, except government buses.

    Vehicles from the junction of the District Police Office Road on Mount-Poonamallee Road proceeding towards the Airport will ply via District Police Office Road, Paul Well's Road, Inner Ring Road and take a `U' turn at the CIPET junction towards the Airport. Motorists from the junction of the District Police Office Road on Mount-Poonamallee Road going towards Saidapet should take the District Police Office Road, Paul Well's Road, Inner Ring Road, CIPET junction, Guindy Industrial Estate Road, Alandur Road and Bazaar Road to reach Anna Salai near Teachers' Colony.

    From DPO junction

    Vehicles from the DPO junction on Mount-Poonamallee Road going towards Adyar and Velachery should take Paul Well's Road, Inner Ring Road, CIPET junction, Guindy Industrial Estate Road and Alandur Road to reach Anna Salai near Guindy railway station.

    The diversion follows a traffic study taken up by the police at the junction, during the morning peak hours.
