Back Malayalee Council meet from August 3 Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , June 19 The World Malayalee Council (WMC) is organising its fifth global convention in Kochi from August 3 to 7. Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, Dr A.V. Anoop, Global General Secretary, WMC, said that around 2,000 delegates from across the world are expected to participate in the event. Seminars on subjects such as IT, tourism, education and health will be held as part of the event. Discussions with officials of the State's Department of Non-Resident Keralite Affairs (Norka) will be held during the convention. An international youth festival, to begin on August 1, will also be organised as part of the event, Dr Anoop said.
`GLOBAL VILLAGE'
The WMC has announced plans to develop a 100-acre `global village' in Idukki district. The initial investment in this project is expected to be Rs 25 crore. The WMC, in association with IndusInd Bank, has also launched online registration for the convention. State Education Minister, Mr M.A. Baby, inaugurated the online registration facility on the Web site www.worldmalayalee.org. Using the online registration facility on the site, individuals and groups can register to participate in the convention and also pay the registration fee.
