CHENNAI: U.S.-headquartered Perot Systems Corporation, a provider of information technology services and business solutions, is set to spread wings in India by expanding its operations. At present, the company operates from Bangalore, Noida and Chennai. Come August, Perot will open a new information technology centre in Coimbatore. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Peter Altabef, President and Chief Executive Officer of Perot, said the proposed Coimbatore facility would come up on a new 20,000 sq. ft office space and would accommodate about 375 seats across three shifts. The upcoming facility would initially handle additional business from the company's worldwide BPO operations. Mr. Altabef said about 30 per cent of the company's workforce is from India, contributing 9 per cent of total revenue. Initially, the Coimbatore facility would provide high-volume and high-value transaction processing, including remittance processing as well as claims' processing. Perot was hopeful of expanding the Coimbatore operations to include additional functional resources, such as application solutions, to meet the increasing worldwide demand for its India-based IT services, Mr. Vardhman Jain, Managing Director, said. The company plans to adopt an aggressive recruitment strategy for the Coimbatore facility.
