Team for Asian junior athletics championship

NEW DELHI: A 50-member Indian team will participate in the 12th Asian junior athletics championship to be held in Macau, China, from July 15 to 18. The Athletics Association of India (AAI) Selection Committee met here on Tuesday before the team was finalised.

The selected athletes, 27 men and 23 women, however, will have to undergo a confirmatory trial on July 6 and 7 at the Nehru Stadium here. Those who fail to show good performance may be excluded from the team, the AFI said in a release on Thursday.

The team:

Men: Sajeesh Joseph, Amit Kumar Mishra (800m); P. Trinad, Ravinder (1500m); Arvind Kumar Yadav, Mohammed Yunus (10,000m); K.A. Harish (110m hurdles); Amalnathan, S. Kanna (long jump); Vinod Raj N. Paul (triple jump); Sourabh Vij, Kulvinder Singh (shot put); Samarjeet Singh (javelin); Bhupinder Singh (decathlon); S. Arunjith S; Anjaneyulu, Hargovind Rai, Ajay Kumar, N. Prasath, Sukomal Pal (4x100m relay); Virender Kumar Pankaj, V.B. Bineesh, Sunil Kumar, R. Bangaraih, Appa Rao, Lakhan Mardi, Bibin Mathew (4x400m relay).

Women: Jhuma Khatun, N.C. Mohanal (1500m); Sangeeta Yadav (5000m); K. Priya (long jump); Manpreet Kaur, Mukesh Beniwal (shot put); Priyanka Bhanot (discus); Shilpa Chauhan (hammer); Rucha Patil, P.K.
