Indians in lead

Tehran: Second seed B. Adhiban won both his games on the second day to be in joint lead with local hope P. Amirreza at the end of three rounds in the under-14 boys category at the Asian youth chess championship here.

Top seed Y. Sandeep was held to draws in both the games to be on two points after a heavy schedule with two rounds being played on Sunday.

In the girls u-14 section, P. Laxmi Sahiti emerged sole leader by defeating Hejazipour Mitra of Iran.

In the boys u-12 group, four Indians — top seed Vidit Gujarathi, P. Srinivasa Varma, Prasanna Rao and A.V. Prasad — jointly shared the lead. Vidit defeated compatriot Fenil Shah in the third round.

Padmini ahead

In the girls section, Padmini Raut defeated top seed and compatriot V. Sreelaxmi to emerge sole leader with half-a-point lead over Priyanka Kumari, Mohana Priya, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (Vietnam) and Hakimifar Ghazal (Iran).
