Body of woman found

NALGONDA: Highly decomposed body of a 22-year-old married woman Nagamma was found in Mellavai in Nampally mandal on Thursday. According to Inspector K.N.Vijayakumar, Nagamma of Vattikodu in Gurrampodu mandal was married to I.Eedaiah, 22, ten months ago. Eedaiah was allegedly harassing her for dowry.

The village secretary found the body in the house and informed the local police. The whereabouts of Eedaiah and her parents was not yet known. Devarakonda DSP Srinivas is supervising the case.-Staff Reporter

Repoll in Bommakkal

KARIMNAGAR: Repolling in Bommakkal village in Karimnagar mandal is being held on Friday amid tight police security.

It may be recalled that the polling process was stopped in this booth when a clerk poured ink in a ballot box .

HYDERABAD: Vijaykumar Reddy, a Senior Assistant in the office of Rajampet Mandal Parishad in Kadapa district, was suspended for favouring the Congress in the local body elections, according to a press release of the State Election Commission here. The Kadapa Collector issued the suspension order. - Special Correspondent

Home guard shot dead

Srikakulam: Rajesh (22), a tribal home guard from Isukaguda in Bhamini mandal, who entered service only a year ago, was shot dead reportedly by Maoists near Venkatagudem village in the wee hours of Thursday. - - Special Correspondent

Farmers end lives

Sangareddy: Mylaram Pochayya (42), a farmer of Katrial village in Ramayampet mandal committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Thursday. According to Ramayampet SI Ashok Kumar, Pochayya received a notice from Cooperative Bank for repayment of the loan and relatives of the victim blamed the bank for his death. Meanwhile, unable to overcome the burden of debt piled up due to crop failure, Sunki Reddy, 30, a farmer of G. Kottala village in Pamidi mandal of Anantapur district ended his life by consuming pesticide. - Staff Reporter

Fruit trees felled

ANANTAPUR: Some 150 sweetlime trees belonging to two TDP supporters — A. Venkataramana and N. Laxminarayana — were felled by unidentified persons on Thursday at Narasapuram in Narpala mandal. - Staff Reporter

Ballot papers found

NALGONDA: A bunch of ballot papers of Garidepally ZPTC were found at Kothagudem village in Garidepally mandal on Thursday a day after the polling. A toddy tapper found the bunch of 13 unused ballot papers in bushes and informed the matter to the village secretary. "We don't know about it till now. We will have to verify," ZP Chief Executive Officer K.V. Suresh Babu said. - Staff Reporter

Declare health emergency: Raghavulu

WYRA (Khammam dt.): State secretary of the CPI(M) B.V. Raghavulu has urged the Government to declare a health emergency in view of the outbreak of chikungunya and other diseases which are assuming epidemic proportions. Addressing a series of roadside meetings as part of his campaign in the Madhira and Sathupalli constituencies, he said fund-strapped general hospitals and the Health Department were not in a position to check the spread of the disease. - Staff Reporter
