ANANTAPUR: District Collector Dasari Kadmial has asked the election staff to carry out the exercise of counting of votes of the MPTC and ZPTC elections impartially and follow guidelines issued by the State Election Commission. Counting of votes will be held at 14 centres in the district on July 4. Addressing counting supervisors, returning officers and assistant returning officers as part of a training programme on the counting process here on Saturday, he complimented the district officials for completing the first phase of the election process successfully. He asked them complete the counting process with equal responsibility.
Counting agents' list
Responsibility on the counting officers would be higher as not only the contestants and the political parties but even the general public would be awaiting the results eagerly. He asked the political parties to give a list of their counting agents to the returning officers concerned by 5 p.m. on Sunday. He told the returning officers not to consider applications received later.
Counting of MPTC votes would be taken up first and ZPTC votes later. He told the counting officers to be impartial while identifying invalid votes.
Polls in 60 panchayats
The Collector said that elections would be held to 960 out of 1,001 gram panchayats and the term of the remaining 41 gram panchayats was yet to be completed. There were a total of 10,280 panchayat wards in the district. Joint Collector Anita Rajendra, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer K. Sripathi Rao, District Revenue Officer M. Sudarshan Reddy, District Panchayat Officer P. Nagaraju and other officials participated.
